Christmas is just round the corner but we’re much more excited about the first weeks of the New Year – because we’ll be rolling out a series of big enhancements to the way iReports works for all customers.
We’re delighted about the seamless way we’ve integrated some powerful new stuff into iReports, but we’re even more excited how it will now offer a richer, more intuitive, and engaging user-experience.
Initially, the changes might not seem drastic, but we think once you’re playing with our new toys you’ll notice how seemingly small shifts can have a significant impact on the way you use the technology.
In fact, we think there are four key enhancements that will make iReports an increasingly vital part of a researcher’s workflow and allow the creation of, frankly, slicker bespoke reports than ever before:
Previously, iReports would fill the available space in your browser window – it won’t do that anymore. Moving to a fixed width makes reports easier to read and navigate when researching. It also means a more consistent experience across your various devices and screen sizes.
Ask the analyst – and other one-click features
We’ve brought several existing features closer to the content, making it easier to write notes, add interesting sections to clippings for later reading, or to download a section directly to Word. We’ve also added a new one-click feature that allows users to directly email the report’s author with a query or question about an individual section or report chapter.
Advanced charts to view data
In the coming weeks static charts will be enhanced with animations and a tool to tell you X and Y values as you hover your curser over specific areas. A further enhancement will help ensure overall brand consistency as charts will start to assume the author’s chosen colour palate when they are clipped and embedded into a report.
Intuitive search results
In-report search returns used to be displayed in the right-hand column listing the number of times a query appeared in individual chapters. We’ve now moved the search function to the left and significantly enhanced the way returns are displayed and navigated. From now on, results will be listed in a series of drop down ‘chapter’ menus outlining how many times a query appears. Clicking into that menu will open up all sections in that chapter, again showing how many times the query appears in those various sections and contextualising each listing. It’s a whole lot smarter and easier to use.
